Styled Through The Seasons, Monsoon 2025

As some of you might remember, although I've grown to appreciate the peculiarities of all seasons as I've aged, monsoon remains my favorite. There's something magical and mystical about those moody skies and the gentle patter of rain that calls for a different kind of dressing—one that speaks in soft layers, easy silhouettes, and colors that complement nature's grayscale palette.
Essentials first, versatility second
As tends to be the case with me, the starting point for putting together the capsule was to pick seasonal items. Versatility is probably most important when it comes to the monsoon season - it helps to be ready for sudden downpours but also have options for sunnier days. Some of my initial picks included seasonal staples such as a windbreaker, a raincoat, and gum boots. The windbreaker and raincoat you might remember from the previous year's monsoon capsule.
After the more obvious season-specific items, I added items that I felt would bring that versatility I touched upon earlier. These include some long-sleeved items—an art graphic tee in navy from Esprit, and another two in beige and green respectively from March Tee and Lacoste. Besides the long-sleeved tees, I also added some heavy trousers and a couple of denims.
Loved clothes last
In contrast to last year, the monsoon capsule this year doesn’t feature new additions at all and is made up of existing items from my wardrobe. After having made the necessary additions last year, I was able to put the capsule together without feeling like I needed something new. Some classics besides the graphic tee mentioned above include gifted denims from 7 For All Mankind, checked kurta from Nicobar, and my navy shacket from Doodlage.
Color therapy
In terms of color, this year I decided to consciously step away from my comfort zone of grey and brown items that I normally gravitate toward during monsoon. I also avoided purple, which, although my favorite color, has been overdone in recent capsules. Colors that do make a frequent appearance are green, navy, black, and red.
